In 2011, I founded mHelpDesk, one of the first cloud-based field service management platforms built specifically for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies. We grew it to thousands of paying customers across the trades. mHelpDesk was acquired by HomeAdvisor, which merged with Angie's List to form Angi HomeServices (NASDAQ: ANGI), the largest digital marketplace for home services in the world. Our platform was featured on CNBC alongside brands like Angie's List, Handy, and HomeStars.
Before mHelpDesk, I launched my first business right out of school: Screameleons.com, an online reptile business that became the #1 highest-rated chameleon seller in the United States. It taught me that every business, no matter how niche, comes down to the same thing: answering the phone, building trust, and closing the deal.
I started Tradesly because I watched every AI company promise to replace CSRs, and I watched every home services owner realize that doesn't work for high-ticket jobs. When a homeowner is spending $8K on a furnace replacement, they want to talk to a person. But that person needs to be great on the phone, and most aren't. Tradesly is the only platform that puts AI where it works (routine calls) and AI-coached humans where they dominate (the calls that pay for everything else).
I write about what I've learned building and selling technology companies in the trades: revenue operations, scaling past the $3M-$5M ceiling, AI's real impact on the industry, and the gap between what AI companies promise and what actually works on a live call.
